Attack on VP Nur: Probe Body Again Fails to Submit a Report 


DU Extends Probe Report Submission Deadline Another Time
The probe body formed to research the attack on DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur and his associates on December 22 now has 10 more working days from the authorities to submit its report.

Earlier, the probe body failed multiple times to submit its report back to the relevant authorities.

The Dhaka University authorities formed a six-member probe committee on December 23 last year, following the assault on Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) vice-chairman (VP) Nur and his supporters allegedly by Chhatra League and Muktijuddha Mancha men inside the VP’s office.

The university subsequently issued a handout, pertaining to the incident as unpleasant and saddening. The Dean of the school of Arts, Prof Dr. Abu M Delwar Hossain, was made convener of the probe body, which was asked to submit a report on the incident alongside recommendations within six working days.

When it did not submit the report within the stipulated time-frame, the DU authorities granted the body 10 more working days. Even then the probe body did not come forth with its report.

After the top of the extended time-frame, the top of the body again sought overtime. Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman extended the time for submission of the report by 10 more working days.

As per the new order by the VC of Dhaka University, the submission of the report has got to be done by January 29.

Speaking on the difficulty, Prof Abu Delwar on Monday told journalists: "We have interviewed 22 persons. The investigation goes on. We are taking overtime for the sake of a correct investigation."

"We will submit the report after finishing the probe," he added.
