2021 Asia Kakehashi Project Scholarship, Bangladesh
AFS Intercultural Programs is a world , voluntary,
non-governmental, non-profit organization that gives intercultural learning
opportunities to assist people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding
needed to make a more just and peaceful world.
AFS develops active global citizens who take action to form
a positive difference where they live, study, work and volunteer.
Their study abroad, education and volunteer programs empower
people of all ages and backgrounds with essential intercultural knowledge,
skills and understanding.
As a number one nonprofit international education
organization, they believe global competence is prime to putting together just
and peaceful societies.
So AFS develops active global citizens to require action and
that they also Globalize schools and institutions with tools and programs. They
expand access to intercultural education with scholarships and outreach.
From the year 2018 to 2023, the govt of Japan provides
scholarship for Asian highschool students who demonstrate strong potential of
leadership to act as a bridge between Japan and their country. who has strong
leadership to measure and study in Japan for ten months. For the year 2020, 200
students are going to be provided this Japanese government scholarship,
including 3 from Bangladesh.
Other Countries that also are invited: Bhutan, Brunei,
Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Laos,
Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore,
Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam
Purpose
・Nourish global competence of Japanese highschool students
through intercultural experiences without going abroad
・Asian high school students to experience living Japanese
education and culture
・Building high school students’ network among Asia
・Develop the leaders for our “future Asia”
Fees: Sponsored by The Govt of Japan
Expenses not covered by the scholarship include:
- Vaccinations, immunizations, and other disease-preventing medications (i.e. malaria)
- Travel expenses to the regional consulate to get a visa
- Additional pocket money
- Checked luggage fees
Duration: April 2021 – February 2022

Eligibilities
- Be between 15 and 18 years aged
- Have good academic records, be within the top quartile within the class
- Be a Japanese language learner and willing to find out the language and therefore the culture of Japan
- Demonstrate strong potential of leadership to act as a bridge between the sending country/region and Japan during and after the program
- Not have participated within the Asia Kakehashi Program before
- Priority are going to be given to students of families with low incomes
